The clash between the IPL and PSL is once again creating problems for Pakistan’s league, as players continue to shift towards the more lucrative Indian tournament. Despite scheduling the PSL at the same time, the PCB is struggling to retain overseas stars. This season is no different. Zimbabwe pacer Blessing Muzarabani has already left the PSL midway to join Kolkata Knight Riders. And he might not be the only one. With injuries hitting several IPL teams, franchises are now looking at PSL players as ready-made replacements.
CSK searching for a replacement
Chennai Super Kings have been dealt a big setback as Nathan Ellis has been ruled out due to injury. The franchise is now exploring options.
Australian pacer Spencer Johnson is one of the frontrunners. He was initially signed by Quetta Gladiators but later withdrew for personal reasons. This has sparked speculation that he could join CSK soon. Another option is South African seamer Ottneil Baartman, who has impressed with his pace and control, especially in the death overs.
PSL players in demand
It’s not just CSK many IPL teams are dealing with injuries, especially among fast bowlers. That’s why franchises are keeping a close eye on PSL squads. Islamabad United have bowlers like Richard Gleeson and Shamar Joseph. Multan Sultans (referred to earlier as Hyderabad Houston) have Riley Meredith, while Quetta Gladiators feature Alzarri Joseph.
