The upcoming fixtures of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 have been postponed due to the ongoing conflict in West Asia, creating uncertainty around an important set of matches in the qualification pathway for the 2027 ODI World Cup.
The tri-series, which was scheduled to take place in
Nepal, involved Oman, the United Arab Emirates, and the hosts. With rising tensions in the region affecting travel and logistics, the organisers decided to delay the matches until further notice.

League 2 tri-series postponed
The tri-series was originally scheduled to be held from March 10 to March 20 at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Nepal. A total of six matches were planned between Nepal, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates as part of the ongoing 2024–26 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 cycle.
However, the escalating conflict in West Asia has forced organisers to reconsider the feasibility of conducting the matches as planned. After discussions between the participating boards and tournament authorities, the decision was taken to postpone the entire set of fixtures. Officials cited logistical complications and broader safety concerns arising from the geopolitical situation as key reasons behind the move.
The Cricket Association of Nepal confirmed the development and stated that the matches would be rescheduled once the situation stabilises and suitable dates are identified.

Important pathway to the 2027 World Cup
The Cricket World Cup League 2 forms a crucial part of the qualification structure for the 2027 ODI World Cup, which will be hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia. The competition features eight teams competing across multiple tri-series over a two-year cycle.
Each team plays a series of One-Day Internationals, earning points that determine their position in the standings. At the end of the League 2 cycle, the top four teams advance to the Cricket World Cup Qualifier, keeping their hopes alive for a place in the 2027 global tournament.
While the postponement disrupts the immediate schedule, organisers are expected to announce revised dates in the coming weeks to ensure the qualification process continues without long-term disruption.
