India’s historic T20 World Cup 2026 triumph has not only strengthened the team’s dominance in world cricket but also earned them a record-breaking financial reward. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a prize money of ₹131 crore for the World Cup-winning Indian team following their title victory.
The announcement was made in an official statement released on Tuesday morning. India successfully defended the T20 World Cup title after previously lifting the trophy in 2024, becoming the first team in tournament history to win back-to-back editions. Their victory in the final against New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad sealed a memorable campaign and sparked celebrations across the country.
This reward surpasses the ₹125 crore prize announced after India’s 2024 T20 World Cup triumph. With the board increasing the reward by ₹6 crore this time, it has become the highest financial bonus ever awarded by the BCCI to the national team for a cricketing achievement. The announcement further reflects the board’s appreciation for the team’s historic accomplishment and consistent performance on the global stage.

BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed the prize in the official statement, congratulating the players, support staff, and selectors for their contribution to the historic victory. The statement highlighted that India defeated New Zealand in the final to retain the title and became the first team in T20 World Cup history to successfully defend their championship.
With this victory, India also set another milestone by becoming the first team to win the T20 World Cup three times, making them the most successful side in the tournament’s history.
