After Pakistan’s early exit from the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, several social media posts claimed that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had imposed hefty fines on players due to the team’s underperformance. Some reports suggested fines as high as PKR 50 lakh per player, creating a wave of speculation and criticism online. Fans and cricket analysts debated the possibility of such action, amplifying the rumours across platforms.

PCB's official statement

The PCB quickly addressed the circulating reports, describing them as “social media gossip” and entirely false.

The board clarified that no fines have been imposed on any player and emphasised that there is neither a provision nor any past precedent for penalising national cricketers financially for early tournament exits. This statement aimed to put a stop to the speculation.
