A wonderful season of the Bengal Premier League has ended with a rain disturbed final where Shrachi Rarh Tigers crushed the Sobisco Smashers Malda with a thrilling 9 runs (DLS Method) win at the Eden Gardens on Sunday to clinch the Bengal T20 League Season 3 Trophy. Bengal Pro T20 League has seen players adapting the new T20 style, close matches and new records remained a highlight of the season, players like Karan Lal, Sumanta Gupta and Agniswar Das emerged as a good striker of the ball. This was the first ever trophy for Shrachi Rarh Tigers.

Final match summary

After being asked to bat in a rain-curtailed 15-over contest, Rarh Tigers overcame an early collapse of 10/3 to post a formidable 165/4. Captain Shahbaz Ahmed led the recovery with a superb unbeaten 88 off just 46 deliveries, smashing seven fours and six sixes. He found strong support from Gaurav Singh Chauhan, who scored a brisk 55 off 30 balls to help the Tigers finish strongly. Akhil was the pick of the bowlers for Malda, claiming two wickets.

In response, Malda faced a revised target of 107 runs in nine overs under the DLS method. Despite a fighting effort from skipper Abhimanyu Easwaran, who top-scored with 38 off 22 balls, Malda could only manage 97/5 in their allotted overs and fell short by nine runs. Rarh Tigers maintained control with disciplined bowling, led by Sukhmeet Singh, who picked up two wickets. Raju Halder and Rohit Kumar chipped in with a wicket each to seal an impressive victory for the Tigers.

Fossils and Cizzy lighten up the Final

After winning the final, Sahabaz Ahmed, the captain of Shrachi Rarh Tigers, said to the reporters, as quoted by Ei Samay online, “I had prepared myself for such an innings. I always told myself that such a day would come. I have to shine for the team. I am very happy to play that innings on a day like the final."
