Vaibhav scripted history by registering the fastest half-century ever in Youth ODI cricket. The previous record was held by Rishabh Pant, who had scored a 50 off 18 balls during the 2016 Under-19 World Cup. On Monday, Vaibhav went a step further, reaching his half-century in just 15 balls and setting a new benchmark at the youth level.

India were chasing a target of 247 runs in the second ODI at Willowmore Park when Vaibhav turned the game on its head. Opening the innings, he smashed 68 runs off only 24 deliveries. His innings included one four and an astonishing 10 sixes, completely shifting the momentum in India’s favour.

With the Under-19 ODI World Cup beginning on January 15 in Zimbabwe and Namibia, India’s preparatory series against South Africa has proven timely.
