The Indian women’s cricket team has announced its squad for the five-match T20 series against South Africa, featuring stars like Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana and Richa Ghosh, along with a few promising youngsters. However, it is 22-year-old Anushka Sharma who has grabbed the spotlight.

Who is this Anushka Sharma?
This all-rounder from Madhya Pradesh first grabbed attention with her performances in the Rising Stars Women’s Asia Cup and the Women’s Premier League (WPL). The state has previously produced talents like Pooja Vastrakar and Vaishnavi Sharma, and now 22-year-old Anushka has earned her place in the national team.
India’s T20 series against South Africa women's national cricket team will begin in Durban from the 17th.
Anushka’s consistent performances have played a key role in her selection. In WPL 2025, she scored 177 runs in seven innings for Gujarat Giants, with a highest score of 44. She also impressed in the Rising Stars Women’s Asia Cup, scoring 116 runs for India.

At the domestic level, she scored 155 runs in five matches for Madhya Pradesh in the Senior Women’s Inter Zonal Trophy, including a standout knock of 80 off 58 balls. She followed it up with 207 runs in the Senior Women’s Trophy.
Notably, Anushka was also the second-highest run-scorer in the Madhya Pradesh Women’s League, underlining her consistency and potential.
