The Election Commission of India released the supplementary voter list on Monday, uploading it on its official website late at night. However, it has not yet clarified the exact number of names included or excluded.
On Tuesday, confusion and panic spread across West Bengal as voters checking their details on the Commission’s app and website found their status displayed as ‘under adjudication’. The message, which essentially means “under trial,” appeared for users across the state. The issue surfaced soon after the Election Commission published the supplementary voter list on Monday. According to sources, around 29 lakh names have been settled, with nearly 40 percent reportedly excluded.
However, the Commission has not yet made any official announcement regarding these figures. The updated list of included and excluded names is available on the official website.
To check their status, voters were required to visit the official portal and enter details such as EPIC number, language, state, and captcha. Instead of their voter status, many were shown the same message: “Elector is Under Adjudication,” leading to confusion, concern and panic.

In this regard, AITC (All India Trinamool Congress), shared a statement on X(formerly Twitter), "The entire state of Bengal has been declared guilty by default. Every single voter is now “UNDER ADJUDICATION.” The Vanish Commission and the @BJP4India have turned the entire electorate of Bengal into suspects. Does @ECISVEEP have an explanation for this ILLOGICAL DISCREPANCY??"
Technical glitch triggers panic among voters
According to Commission sources, the issue is the result of a major technical glitch and is expected to be fixed soon. However, the Commission has not issued any official statement so far. Some circles have also raised concerns, not entirely ruling out the possibility of a server-related issue ahead of the elections.
Notably, the supplementary list was uploaded around 11:30 PM on Monday, when the website briefly went down immediately after the update. It became functional again around 11:59 PM, allowing voters to access their details. However, Tuesday’s issue, where all voters were shown as ‘under adjudication’, has triggered fresh anxiety across the state.
