A moment of brilliance quickly turned into concern for Barcelona and Spain as Lamine Yamal went from match-winner to injury doubt within seconds. The teenage forward scored the decisive goal in a La Liga clash but immediately signalled discomfort, leaving the pitch with what could be a significant setback.

Goal followed by worrying exit

Yamal converted a penalty against Celta Vigo to seal a 1-0 win, but instead of celebrating, he clutched his left hamstring and went down. The abrupt reaction raised alarm bells, with early indications suggesting a possible muscle tear. Barcelona manager Hansi Flick confirmed after the game that the player had “felt something", adding that the club would wait for medical scans to determine the severity of the injury.

Club calm, country concerned

While Barcelona remain in a strong position domestically, holding a comfortable lead over Real Madrid in La Liga, the bigger concern lies beyond club football. Spain’s national team could be significantly affected if Yamal is ruled out for an extended period. The young forward has rapidly become one of their most influential attacking options despite his age, combining creativity with consistent goal contributions.

Teammate Pedri expressed hope that the injury would not keep Yamal out for long, urging patience as the 18-year-old begins his recovery.

Race against time for World Cup fitness

With the World Cup approaching, the timing of the injury could not be worse. Spain’s group-stage fixtures are fast approaching, and any prolonged absence would disrupt their attacking plans.

Yamal has already proven his impact on the international stage, playing a key role in Spain’s recent European success. His absence would leave a noticeable gap in both creativity and finishing. For now, all eyes are on the upcoming medical reports. Whether this is a short-term setback or a major blow will determine not just Barcelona’s immediate plans, but also Spain’s hopes on the global stage.
