On his 55th birthday, May 1, Ajith Kumar surprised fans with the first glimpse of his upcoming racing documentary Gladiators, as his team released a short video teasing the high-speed story to come.
Ajith’s team posted the first look of Gladiators on their official X handle and wrote, “Ajith Kumar Sports Services LLC presents GLADIATORS – In Pursuit of Challenges. #Gladiators is a film on Ajith Kumar's Motorsport journey, Chasing the impossible. The race begins soon.” While there is no word on its release date, it will premiere in cinemas and not be an OTT-only release.

The video, about 50 seconds in duration, reveals a racecar that is ready to compete in the arena as Ajith enters. The video ends with him donning the helmet, followed by a cut-off scene of a race. The title of the documentary film is Gladiators along with a subtitle ‘In pursuit of challenges’. This documentary ends with an image of Ajith with a helmet, followed by one where he can be seen watching his race car.
This documentary film is ‘witnessed and captured’ by director AL Vijay, while the music has been composed by GV Prakash Kumar. The enthusiastic composer even shared the video on his social media account, saying, “AK racing #gladiators … with AK racingggggg theme in my music”. He further added, “Let’s chase the impossible….The race begins soon.”
Fans call the movie's release surprising
Even though there were images and videos of Vijay joining Ajith in attending races and filming videos, fans were disappointed that there was no announcement regarding the upcoming movie on the actor’s birthday. “That’s not fair. While we completely appreciate his passion for racing and his career, he should also respect our passion for his commercial films and provide them accordingly,” one disappointed fan commented.

“Please don’t become a reluctant actor. While taking up a career as a racing driver is entirely your own personal choice, once you decide to make movies, you have a moral obligation towards your fans to provide quality movies. Otherwise, please don’t continue making movies, and you can concentrate on racing. No good movies after YA,” another fan commented. Nonetheless, it appears that fans were delighted about watching their favorite Gladiators in cinemas. “Documentary film? Cool,” one fan commented, while another said, “Sitting tight for Thala.”
Having appeared in the 2025 movies Vidaamuyarchi and Good Bad Ugly, Ajith is presently concentrating on his career as a racing driver through Ajith Kumar Racing from 2024 onwards. Soon, he will be racing in the Le Man Cup competition at Circuit Paul Ricard, France.
