Ubisoft is set to revisit one of its most loved titles with Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, a modern reimagining of the 2013 classic. Scheduled for release on July 9, 2026, the game brings back Edward Kenway and his Caribbean adventures, this time powered by upgraded technology and expanded gameplay features.

Developed with contributions from the original team and led by Ubisoft Singapore, the new version promises to stay faithful to the core story while enhancing the experience for modern platforms. Players will once again command the Jackdaw, navigating naval battles, island exploration and the long-running conflict between Assassins and Templars.

A familiar story with a modern overhaul

Resynced retains the original narrative but rebuilds the experience using the latest iteration of Ubisoft’s Anvil engine. The upgrade brings ray-traced lighting, improved water physics and a full visual overhaul that makes the Caribbean setting more immersive.

Combat has also been refined, with improved parry mechanics, new takedowns and additional enemy types. Stealth gameplay sees meaningful changes, including the ability to crouch anywhere and use shadows more dynamically. Parkour has been enhanced with smoother transitions and new movement options, making traversal feel faster and more responsive.

New content and deeper gameplay

Beyond visual upgrades, the game introduces fresh content across multiple systems. Players can recruit officers for the Jackdaw, each offering unique abilities in naval combat. Ship customisation has been expanded, including new skins and even companion pets onboard.

Naval combat, a defining feature of the original, has been reworked with new weapons and enemy behaviours. Additional missions and scenes have also been added, with Matt Ryan returning to voice Edward Kenway with newly recorded lines.

The game also expands side activities, including reworked fleet management systems that allow players to generate passive income through captured ships and trading.
