Chinese electric vehicle maker BYD is stepping up its expansion in Europe by introducing its premium Denza brand along with a new ultra-fast charging system designed to significantly reduce EV charging time.
BYD targets Europe with Denza EVs and ultra-fast charging technology
The move is part of the companyâs broader strategy to strengthen its presence in the European electric vehicle market and compete with established luxury brands. The first vehicle expected to showcase this technology in Europe is the Denza Z9GT, a premium electric model that highlights BYDâs latest battery and charging innovations.
Flash-charging technology aims to cut charging time dramatically
BYDâs new âflash chargingâ system is designed to deliver extremely high charging speeds, allowing compatible electric vehicles to charge from around 10% to 70% in roughly five minutes. This technology is powered by BYDâs advanced battery and high-power charging infrastructure. The charging system can reach power levels of up to 1,500 kW, which is far higher than most current EV chargers. With this capability, the Denza Z9GT can quickly regain significant driving range, helping reduce one of the biggest concerns among EV buyersâlong charging times. The new model is also expected to deliver a driving range of up to around 800 kilometres, depending on the version and testing standards.
