The test mule was seen heavily camouflaged, suggesting that the model is still in the early stages of development. Spy images show a compact SUV with an upright stance and boxy proportions, indicating a design that focuses on practicality and urban usability. The vehicle appears to feature design cues inspired by Hyundai’s newer electric models, including sleek LED lighting elements and rugged styling touches. The new EV is expected to sit between the Hyundai Exter and Venue in the company’s lineup, targeting buyers who want a compact electric SUV in the sub-4 metre segment. This positioning could allow Hyundai to compete directly with popular small SUVs and upcoming electric offerings in the segment.

Likely to rival compact electric SUVs

Although Hyundai has not officially confirmed the specifications, the upcoming electric SUV is expected to play a key role in the brand’s future EV strategy for India. Industry reports suggest that the model may feature high localisation levels to keep costs competitive and support mass-market adoption.

The SUV is also expected to be manufactured at Hyundai’s Talegaon facility in Maharashtra, which could become a hub for the company’s future electric vehicles in India. Local production would help Hyundai price the model aggressively in a segment that is expected to grow rapidly over the next few years.

If launched as expected, it will strengthen Hyundai’s electric portfolio and give the brand a strong presence in the entry-level EV SUV space. The testing phase suggests that more details about the vehicle’s design, features and specifications are likely to emerge in the coming months as development progresses.
