OpenAI has introduced a new year-end feature for ChatGPT customers that provides a customised summary of their interactions with the chatbot over the past year. The experience, named "Your Year with ChatGPT," is similar to Spotify Wrapped as it uses patterns, interests, and behaviours to give customers a visual, shareable summary of their AI usage.

The feature is being introduced for eligible users in select markets, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand. It is available to users on Free, Plus and Pro plans, provided they have enabled saved memories and chat history and meet a minimum activity threshold.

According to a statement shared by OpenAI with TechCrunch, the year-end review is designed to be “lightweight, privacy-forward and user-controlled.” Team, Enterprise and Education accounts are currently excluded from the rollout.

What the feature shows

Much like other annual digital recaps, “Your Year with ChatGPT” uses graphics, prompts and themed highlights to reflect how users engaged with the platform. It assigns playful titles based on usage such as problem-solving, creative ideation or planning and also generates a short poem and an image shaped by the user’s most frequent topics.

The experience is optional and will not open automatically. Users can access it from the ChatGPT home screen on web and mobile apps, or trigger it by typing “Your Year with ChatGPT” into the chat.

How users experienced it

For many, the recap shows how deeply ChatGPT has become an essential in our daily life.

“Over the past two years, ChatGPT has become a reliable everyday tool for learning, writing, planning and problem-solving,” said Manushree Maity, a PhD scholar at St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata. “It saves time, enhances clarity and sparks ideas when I feel stuck. But it should never be treated as a final authority as verification remains essential.”

Others describe a more personal reliance. “ChatGPT is a saviour, friend and guide all in one,” said Sneh Kumar, a chartered accountant from Kolkata. “From health advice to current affairs, it’s the first thing I turn to.”

"Over the course of this year, I have used ChatGPT on multiple occasions and for several things. It's a wonderful assisting tool, which with accurate prompts can make one go on a roll. It's difficult to keep a tab on how many times ChatGPT has come to my rescue," said Swapnil Gaur, Senior Associate, Rajeshwari & Associates, Delhi.

Professionals across sectors echoed similar views. Utkarsh Sharma, senior consultant at Deloitte, said the tool helped him understand medical reports and scan results in simpler language. Meenakshi Roy, District Employment Officer with the Bihar government, credited ChatGPT with helping her prepare a presentation for her district magistrate and even design her engagement card.

In the tech sector, Prashant, a senior cybersecurity engineer based in Delhi, said the chatbot supported his work in automation, scripting and documentation. “It helped me think through solutions faster and communicate them more clearly,” he said.

A growing digital habit

With “Your Year with ChatGPT,” OpenAI appears to be acknowledging how the chatbot has moved beyond experimentation into everyday use, for work, learning and personal problem-solving. As the feature rolls out more widely, it offers users not just a summary of prompts and chats, but a reflection of how conversational AI has quietly woven itself into daily life.
