WhatsApp has brought an update with a fresh set of features just before the holiday season. This update will introduce new tools across calls, chats, and status updates intended for making conversations smoother, faster and more expressive for its global user base.
Missed call messages and smarter calling tools
This holiday feature drop marks one of the major additions to WhatsApp's messaging services, which includes missed call messages. It will allow users to quickly leave a voice or video note when a call goes unanswered. This feature will provide the traditional voicemail in WhatsApp with a more seamless in-chat experience.
Voice chat reaction
WhatsApp is also improving voice chats with real-time reactions, letting participants send quick acknowledgements like a celebratory âcheersâ without cutting in on the discussion.
Improved group call spotlight
A new speaker spotlight feature will automatically emphasise the active speaker, helping users follow conversations more easily in group video calls.

Chat Upgrades With Meta AI
The platform is taking a major leap in AI capabilities by incorporating new image generation models from Midjourney and Flux. This update means that the users will now see greatly improved quality when creating custom images, which includes holiday greetings directly through Meta AI on WhatsApp.
AI photo animation
There is another notable update, which is the AI-powered photo animation. It can turn any static image into a short video for sharing in chats or on status.
New media tab and better link previews
WhatsApp is introducing a new media tab that consolidates all media, documents, and links across conversations on the desktop version. It will make it easier for Mac, Windows, and Web users to search and manage files. The app has also refined link previews to reduce clutter from long URLs.

WhatsApp has also added new interactive stickers, which include designs with music lyrics and question prompts to increase engagement. The users can now post questions that viewers can react to directly on their Status. The channel admins can now ask real-time questions to followers, giving broadcasters more instruments to interact and gather feedback as part of broader efforts to develop engagement.
