Eastern Railway adds special EMU trains till April end: Which routes will get the service?

Eastern Railway introduces special EMU trains across Sealdah and Howrah divisions till April 30; check routes, timings, and stops to plan your commute better.

Eastern Railway has announced the temporary operation of multiple EMU train services across the Howrah and Sealdah divisions to manage increased passenger demand. The special services will run from April 20 to April 30, covering key suburban routes.

Services in Sealdah division

In the Sealdah division, two special EMU services will operate on the Namkhana and Diamond Harbour routes.

The Sealdah–Namkhana–Sonarpur Special will depart from Sealdah at 6:15 AM and arrive at Namkhana at 8:45 AM. On its return leg, the train will leave Namkhana at 9:10 AM and reach Sonarpur at 11:03 AM.

Another service, the Sonarpur–Diamond Harbour–Sealdah Special, will depart Sonarpur at 11:17 AM and reach Diamond Harbour at 12:29 PM. It will then leave Diamond Harbour at 12:38 PM and arrive at Sealdah at 2:23 PM.

Services in Howrah division

In the Howrah division, special EMU trains will run on the Katwa–Bandel and Katwa–Burdwan routes during the same period.

The Bandel–Katwa service will depart Bandel at 7:45 AM and reach Katwa at 10:00 AM. For the return journey, the train will leave Katwa at 1:45 PM and arrive at Bandel at 4:00 PM.

The Katwa–Burdwan EMU Special will depart Katwa at 10:15 AM and reach Burdwan at 11:45 AM. It will then leave Burdwan at 12:00 PM and arrive back at Katwa at 1:25 PM.

Additional service on Bandel–Azimganj route

Earlier, Eastern Railway had also introduced a special EMU service on the Bandel–Katwa–Azimganj route. This train departs Bandel at 10:10 AM and reaches Azimganj at 2:10 PM. On the return journey, it leaves Azimganj at 2:40 PM and arrives at Bandel at 7:10 PM.

All the special EMU trains will halt at every station along their respective routes, ensuring accessibility for daily commuters. Each train will run with 12 coaches.

The temporary services are aimed at easing crowd pressure and improving connectivity across busy suburban sections during the specified period.
