The maid then collected a spare key from a neighbour. However, when she touched the door, it opened. She entered the flat and found the couple's eight-year-old son asleep in one room. In another room, Enakshi was lying motionless on the bed.
The maid raised an alarm, following which neighbours gathered and informed the police. By the time police reached the spot, Enakshi's husband, Soumik Das, was not present in the house.
Police probe underway
Police officials said Soumik Das, a professor at a private college, had been living in the flat with his wife and son for the past four years. According to preliminary information, the family maintained limited interaction with neighbours.
