'Khela Hobe' took West Bengal by storm during the 2021 assembly elections in the state. The remixed version of the song became massively popular across West Bengal and India, as the song blared through speakers in every corner of the state.
Building on that momentum, TMC leader and IT Cell chief Debangshu Bhattacharya has come up with a new song before the 2026 assembly elections.
What is Debangshu's new song?
The new song is named 'Jotoi Koro SIR - E Bangla Fer Mamatar' (However much you conduct SIR - Bengal is Mamata's). Collaborating with the Joyee Band, which comprises youth party members, Bhattacharya shot the song at Rabindra Bhawan, in Howrah's Bally.
What is the song about?
The song revolves around the themes of communal discord, allegations of mismanagement by the Modi government, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's foreign trips, among other topics which opposition parties like the Trinamool Congress often accuse the BJP and PM Modi of doing at the expense of the well-being of the public.
From the rise in prices of LPG cylinders, refutation of infiltration allegations levelled by the BJP, attacking the NRC exercise in Assam to glorifying the public distribution system of Mamata Banerjee's government - Debangshu Bhattacharya's song has garnered nearly a million views on his Facebook page in a day after its release.

The 'Khela Hobe' phenomenon
Debangshu Bhattacharya had similarly released 'Khela Hobe' during the run-up to the 2021 West Bengal assembly elections. The song was picked up by an independent YouTube channel named 'Dj Amin Kolkata,' and remixed with punk beats. The remixed version of the song became an instant hit. Currently, 'Khela Hobe' has 4.1 crore views on 'Dj Amin Kolkata's YouTube channel.
