US President Donald Trump has reportedly hung a picture of himself with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the White House.

The Trump administration has made some changes to the Palm Room at the White House, though they were relatively modest compared to other areas like the demolished East Wing. According to the New York Times, three new chandeliers were added, and marble floors were installed.

Which photos have been displayed in the Palm Room?

The Palm Room connects the West Wing to the White House Residence. It usually functions as a lobby space for visitors, the Times reported.

Among the photographs displayed there is an image of Donald Trump standing alongside Russian President Vladimir Putin. The picture was taken on August 15, 2025, on a tarmac in Anchorage, Alaska. The two leaders are seen posing side by side before a closed-door summit. The meeting focused on ending the war in Ukraine, although Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was not part of the talks.

Below the Trump-Putin photograph is another image. It shows Trump with one of his grandchildren at the NASCAR Daytona 500 in Florida, The Hill reported.

These photographs now hang prominently in the Palm Room, a space that quietly links the working and residential parts of the White House.

Obama, Bush photographs sidelined

Last year, President Trump asked staffers to shift former President Barack Obama's portrait to a corner. He took similar steps with the portraits of former Presidents George W. Bush and George H.W. Bush, HuffPost reported. The official portrait of President Joe Biden is still not finished.

Work began last fall on the largest part of the White House renovations to construct a new ballroom. Once finished, the ballroom will cover 90,000 square feet and can hold up to 999 people. The president has often said the White House did not have a big enough space to host guests.
