A teenager, who had gone missing at the age of 13 in the United States over 30 years ago, has been traced alive, resulting in a major development in one of the longstanding missing persons cases.

The discovery of Christina Marie Plante, who went missing in May 1994 from Star Valley, Arizona, has now been located and identified.

According to an article on NDTV, the progress in this case has been made possible due to some new developments, partly because of technological advancements in investigating techniques.

Case that remained open for decades

According to authorities, Christina was last seen leaving her home to check on her horse at a nearby stable. She never returned.

At that point, there was an alert about a missing girl who wore a white T-shirt, colorful shorts, and black sports shoes. The case was categorised as one where she could be in peril.

The police continued working on this case throughout the years, looking at new clues and investigating for any leads. In addition, her information had been added to missing persons databases and posters made in her search were distributed extensively throughout the state.

Breakthrough after 32 years

Officials confirmed that Christina has now been found alive, more than 30 years after her disappearance.

However, authorities have not disclosed where or how she was located. They said the decision was taken to protect her privacy and well-being. “Out of respect for Christina’s privacy and best interests, no further details will be released,” officials said.

The case stands as one of the rare instances where a decades-old missing persons investigation has ended with the individual found alive.
