Twelve people, including five Indian nationals, were injured in Abu Dhabi on Friday after debris from intercepted Iranian projectiles fell in the Ajban area. According to the Abu Dhabi Media Office, seven Nepali nationals were also among those hurt. The injuries occurred due to shrapnel from missile interception, officials said in a social media update.

The incident comes amid rising tensions following Iran’s warning of retaliatory action against Israel and Gulf countries. The warning was issued after reported attacks on Iran’s bridges and energy infrastructure.

A spokesperson for Iran's Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters said that any strike on critical infrastructure would invite strong retaliation.

Gas facility operations halted after fire

Earlier in the day, authorities also suspended operations at the Habshan gas facility, the largest natural gas processing plant in the UAE. According to officials, the halt followed an intercepted attack that led to falling debris and a resulting fire at the site.

The Abu Dhabi Media Office confirmed the development in a post on X, stating that emergency measures were taken after the incident.

UAE defence details interception figures

The UAE Ministry of Defence said its air defence systems intercepted multiple incoming threats. It reported the downing of 18 ballistic missiles, four cruise missiles and 47 unmanned aerial vehicles launched from Iran.

“Since the start of the blatant Iranian attacks, UAE air defences have engaged 475 ballistic missiles, 23 cruise missiles and 2085 UAVs,” the UAE's defence ministry said in a post on X.

The ministry added that the attacks have so far resulted in the deaths of two armed forces personnel. Nine civilians of various nationalities, including Pakistani, Nepali, Bangladeshi, Palestinian and Indian, were also killed.

A total of 203 people have been injured, with cases ranging from minor to severe, according to the ministry’s statement.
