A horrific militant attack occurred on Christmas in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province claimed the lives of three people. What happened in North Waziristan?
The explosion occurred at Mir Ali market in North Waziristan. According to local media sources, heavy gunfire was heard immediately after the explosion. The incident spread widespread panic in the area. Pakistan's security forces launched a counter-operation immediately after the militant attack. Clashes began between security forces and militants in the villages of Hasu Khel and Mosaki in North Waziristan.

Pakistan's counter-offensive
According to a CNN-News 18 report, Pakistani forces used drones and mortars to counter the militant attack. Local sources claim that the sound of at least 200 mortar shell explosions was heard until Thursday morning in Hasu Khel and Mosaki. The country's security forces have cordoned off the entire area and launched a search operation.
