There are no signs of the situation in Bangladesh returning to normal. Dhaka was once again bloodied on the night before Christmas. According to a report by 'Prothom Alo', some unidentified miscreants threw petrol bombs from the flyover at New Eskaton in front of the Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Central Command in Dhaka's Mogbazar area around 7:45 PM local time on Wednesday night.

One person died near New Eskaton AG Church due to the bomb attack. Several others present there were seriously injured. After preliminary investigation, Dhaka Metropolitan Police reported that the deceased was named Siam (24). He was an employee of a shop called 'Zahid Car Decoration' located under the flyover.

Muhammad Sobug posted a video on X, captioning it, "One person killed in the Bomb blast in Moghbazar area of Dhaka in Bangladesh. Cocktail bombs hurled from a flyover towards 1971 Liberation War Veterans Association."

According to eyewitnesses, Siam had stepped outside the shop to have tea during a work break. At that exact moment, the bomb was dropped from above and exploded directly in front of him. The young man collapsed on the ground in a bloodied state. He died at the scene shortly after.

According to local sources, there was a considerable crowd in the market area right in front of the Muktijoddha Sangsad due to Christmas. The explosion occurred amidst this crowd. The deafening sound of the explosion instantly spread panic throughout the area.

As soon as news of the incident was received, police and emergency response teams reached the scene. The injured were quickly taken to nearby hospitals. Police have currently cordoned off the entire area and search operations have begun in various locations to find the perpetrators. No group has claimed responsibility for this attack so far.

It is worth mentioning that just a few days ago, a member of the minority community was beaten to death in Bangladesh on false charges of religious desecration. The situation in Bangladesh was already tense over this incident. Amidst this, such an explosion in the heart of the capital on Christmas Eve has once again raised serious questions about the security of minorities in Muhammad Yunus's Bangladesh.
