Swiss International Air Lines has announced an expansion of its India operations with the launch of a new direct service between Zurich and Bengaluru, marking the airline’s first-ever route to southern India. Bengaluru will become the carrier’s third Indian destination after Delhi and Mumbai.

The operation schedule

The airline will operate five flights a week on the new route from October 25, 2026, to March 27, 2027. According to the announced schedule, flight LX140 will depart Zurich at 1:20 pm and arrive in Bengaluru at 2:55 am the following day. The return service, flight LX141, will depart from Bengaluru at 4:50 am and arrive in Zurich at 10:50 pm on the same day. Flights from Zurich will operate daily except Mondays and Wednesdays, while departures from Bengaluru will be unavailable on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The airline stated that the new route has been planned to meet rising travel demand from corporate passengers, the technology industry, premium leisure travellers, and Europe-based NRIs. Bookings for the Zurich-Bengaluru service will open on May 19 through swiss.com and travel agency partners.

Europe-Bangalore connectivity

With the addition of SWISS, Bengaluru’s direct European connectivity will further strengthen. The city currently offers nonstop flights to London, Paris, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, and Munich through airlines such as British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, Air France, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, and Lufthansa.

SWISS also confirmed plans to expand the deployment of its new Airbus A350 aircraft on additional long-haul routes, including Johannesburg and Shanghai, following its introduction on Boston and Seoul services. The airline expects five Airbus A350 aircraft to enter service by the end of the year, all featuring the updated “SWISS Senses” cabin interiors across every travel class.

At the same time, the airline revealed that it will reduce certain Geneva operations during the 2026-27 winter season due to continuing global shortages of aircraft and engine components affecting its Airbus A220 fleet. Services from Geneva to Berlin, Hamburg, and Pristina will be temporarily suspended for the winter schedule.

For the 2026-27 winter season, SWISS plans to operate flights to 88 destinations from Zurich and Geneva, including 24 intercontinental routes and 60 European destinations from Zurich alone.
