Air travel between India and Dubai faced major disruption on Tuesday after authorities in Dubai suspended landing permissions for foreign airlines. Following the directive, IndiGo, Air India, Air India Express and SpiceJet cancelled their flights to and from the city, affecting thousands of passengers.
Safety concerns trigger suspension
The move comes after a drone attack in the vicinity of Dubai International Airport that reportedly struck a fuel tanker within airport premises. The incident led to widespread disruption on Monday, with most flight operations halted as a precautionary measure.
Dubai Civil Aviation authorities issued a circular stating, "Please be informed that landing permission for aircraft operating into DXB/DWC airports in the Emirates of Dubai suspended until further notice."

The notice also stated that the decision was taken to ensure the safety of airlines, crew members, passengers, airport staff and the general public.
While foreign carriers faced a complete halt, some UAE-based airlines were allowed to resume partial operations later on Monday evening. Emirates and FlyDubai operated select services as the situation showed signs of stabilising.
Indian airlines suspend Dubai routes
Air India and Air India Express also halted their Dubai operations. In a statement, the Air India group mentioned operating 44 scheduled and non-scheduled flights between India and West Asia on Tuesday, specifically highlighting routes to Jeddah and Muscat. Dubai was notably absent from the list.
SpiceJet similarly announced restrictions on its Dubai services on Monday night.
