UGC NET 2026 registration ending tomorrow: Here’s everything candidates must check

Candidates are required to fill out the application form online, pay the prescribed fee and download the confirmation page before the portal closes.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has extended the registration deadline for the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) June 2026 following requests from candidates. Aspirants who have not yet applied can now complete the registration process until May 23, 2026.

Candidates are required to fill out the application form online, pay the prescribed fee and download the confirmation page before the portal closes.

According to the revised notification issued by NTA, the updated dates are as follows:

Last date to submit application form: May 23, 2026

Last date for application fee payment: May 23, 2026

Application correction window: May 25 to 27, 2026

Candidates who were unable to complete the process earlier can use the extended timeline to submit their forms.

Important checklist for applicants

Before the registration portal closes, candidates should ensure they complete all required steps carefully. These include:

Filling and submitting the online application form.

Verifying personal and academic details carefully.

Paying the required examination fee.

Downloading and saving the confirmation page for future reference.

The registration fee for candidates belonging to the general or unreserved category is Rs 1,150.

After successful registration, candidates will later receive their UGC NET 2026 admit cards, which will include details regarding the exam date, shift timings and allotted examination centre.

Exam details and purpose

The UGC NET examination is conducted to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for the award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), appointment as Assistant Professor and admission to PhD programmes.

The UGC NET June 2026 examination will be conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode across 85 subjects. As per the current schedule, the exams will take place between June 22 and June 30, 2026.

Candidates are advised to complete the application process well before the deadline to avoid last-minute technical issues or payment delays.
