Pan-India popular playback singer Arijit Singh has decided to take a rest now, as he announced his retirement as a playback singer. Along with fans, the whole industry got emotional after seeing their favourite singer take a setback. Arijit Singh declared his retirement through his social media post. In the post, Arijit Singh thanked his vast listeners for their love and support.

'Maatrubhumi' as Arijit Singh’s last playback song

Fans never imagined the declaration; they are confused whether the “Maatrubhumi” song as singers last playback song? Over the years, there have been many revolutions in the music industry, but Arijit Singh has stayed in the hearts of all. The first song of the Battle of Galwan is "Maatrubhumi".

Which is composed by Himesh Reshammiya with lyrics by Sameer Anjaan, and sung by Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal. This song is based on a patriotic theme as the movie Battle of Galwan will represent the Indo-China war in 2020. This song was released on 24th January 2026. Along with "Maatrubhumi", Arijit also sang for "Hum To Tere Hi Liye The" song from the upcoming film O’Romeo, "Sukoon 2.0", an independent collaboration with Salim-Sulaiman, "Into You", which is an album, and all of these were released in January.

As Arijit Singh mentioned in his note, "I still have to finish some pending commitments, will finish them, so you might get some releases this year," which clearly indicates that several songs are waiting to be released this year.
