The theatrical run may have ended, but Dhurandhar is back in the spotlight, this time setting off an unusual OTT face-off. The “raw and unseen” version of the film is slated to premiere simultaneously on both Netflix and JioHotstar on May 22, sparking curiosity among viewers and industry watchers alike.

Unseen version to offer ‘raw and unfiltered’ experience

Announced on Thursday, the new cut of Dhurandhar promises a more immersive take on the story. Marketed as “raw and unfiltered”, the version is expected to include previously unreleased scenes and moments crafted specifically for streaming audiences.

The film will be available not just in Hindi but also in Tamil and Telugu, widening its reach across regional markets.

OTT clash leaves viewers puzzled

The decision to release the same version of a film on two competing platforms on the same day has triggered a wave of reactions online. Many users expressed confusion over the strategy.

About the film and its box office run

Directed by Aditya Dhar, the action spy thriller features Ranveer Singh alongside Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal and R Madhavan.

Released in theatres on December 5, 2025, the first film reportedly earned ₹1307 crore worldwide. Its sequel, which arrived on March 19, crossed ₹1363 crore.

The story follows Jaskirat Singh Rangi, also known as Hamza Ali Mazari, who infiltrates a network in Pakistan’s Lyari region as part of a covert mission.

While praised for its scale and storytelling, the film also drew criticism, with some viewers alleging political bias. Several industry voices, including Anupam Kher and Piyush Mishra, publicly defended it.
