K-pop group BTS made their much-awaited comeback after a lengthy break due to mandatory military service. Their return concert, streamed live on Netflix, pulled in an estimated 18.4 million viewers globally, according to the streaming platform on Wednesday. The event ranks among the highest viewership figures ever recorded for a live streaming event, underlining the group's massive global influence, which has only grown stronger during their time away.

Netflix confirmed that BTS : The Comeback, streamed live from Seoul’s Gwanghwamun Square, entered the Top 10 in 80 countries. It ranked number one in 24 of them, based on the platform’s own data.
The concert
Over 100,000 fans gathered at Gwanghwamun Square in central Seoul, according to HYBE, the group's label. Fans waved glowsticks, sang along, and filmed the performance on their phones. Giant screens were set up across the venue. About 15,000 police and security staff were deployed. Barricades were placed on roads, and nearby areas were closed.
Album and tour
The concert coincided with the release of BTS's fifth studio album, 'Arirang', launched on Friday. Described as reflecting the group's Korean identity as a maturing band, it sold nearly four million copies on its first day, according to HYBE.
The album arrived with a surprise. The group dropped their first music video alongside the release, featuring Hollywood actress Lili Reinhart, best known for her role in the TV series Riverdale. The video was directed by Tanu Muino. All seven members - RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook - appear in the visual, set against the backdrop of the open ocean.
Following the concert, BTS launched their Arirang World Tour, beginning April 9 in Goyang, South Korea. The 2026-27 tour covers 82 concerts across 34 cities in Asia, North America, Europe, and Latin America. Tickets for South Korea, North America, and Europe sold out within hours.
