The case dates back to October 14, 2024. Narangi alias Geeta Chaudhary, 34, was found hanging from a kitchen ceiling fan in her Mumbai home. Police filed an Accidental Death Report (ADR). The first post-mortem gave no clear cause of death. Her body was taken to Rajasthan, where she was cremated.

As per the report of NDTV, Bhanaram Chaudhary could not accept that his daughter Geeta Chaudhary was gone. More than that, he could not believe she had taken her own life. That refusal to stay silent cracked open one of Mumbai's most calculated murder conspiracies; nearly 18 months after the crime.

The truth hidden in plain sight

According to the NDTV report, Geeta Chaudhary's father filed a complaint in Rajasthan and pushed hard for a fresh investigation. Authorities exhumed her body. A second post-mortem changed everything; it confirmed Geeta Chaudhary had died of strangulation, not suicide. What looked like a personal tragedy was now a murder case.

A husband, an affair and a Rs 6.7 lakh contract

The NDTV report further stated that behind the staged suicide was Geeta Chaudhary's husband, Sakaram. He was having an affair with a woman named Dimple Chaudhary and wanted to live with her. He saw Geeta Chaudhary as an obstacle. He had already tried to kill her twice -first by staging a road accident in Powai, then through a direct physical assault. Both failed.

After that, he hired his friend Shankar Dangi for Rs 6.7 lakh to finish the job. Dangi brought in two more men: Babu alias Raghav alias Amarchand Gayari, and Dinesh. On October 14, the three strangled Geeta Chaudhary and hung her body from the ceiling fan to fake a suicide.

Three lies before the truth

When police questioned Sakaram during the re-investigation, he misled them three times. He eventually broke down and confessed. He admitted his motive -he wanted Geeta out of his life so he could be with Dimple Chaudhary. All four accused, Sakaram, Shankar Dangi, Babu, and Dinesh Gayri, have since been arrested.
