Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth are coming together after more than four decades. The two legends, who last shared screen space in 1985, will reunite for a new film directed by Nelson. Red Giant Movies had promised a special promo featuring the icons on Friday, and on Saturday (February 21), the makers released the much-awaited announcement video.
The fun-filled promo also features director Nelson and music director Anirudh, setting the tone for what fans are already calling a historic collaboration.
Swag-filled promo sets the mood
The glimpse opens with Nelson standing in a corridor, confused about which star’s room to enter first. Anirudh walks in and jokingly asks him to choose between two fingers, though he himself seems confused about which raag to pick.
The scene then cuts to Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan inside their respective rooms, both teasing Nelson. Each asks if the other has chosen a particular blazer, belt or watch. If one picks the first option, the other immediately claims the second. The playful rivalry continues as both stars step out, dressed in different styles, and come face to face.
They walk side by side with effortless swag, turning heads as they pass through a garage. Kamal takes the driver’s seat while Rajinikanth sits beside him. Nelson and Anirudh join them in the backseat. Anirudh mentions that the theme music is ready, but Kamal says that can wait- he first wants to know who the hero is. Rajinikanth jumps in, asking Nelson to answer: yes, tell him who the hero is! The title card then appears: ‘KH x RK reunion’. The film, written and directed by Nelson, will begin shooting soon.

Fans predict record-breaking success
Fans are thrilled about the reunion. Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth worked together in over a dozen Tamil and Hindi films in the 1970s, but have not appeared together since 1985.
Reacting to the promo, a fan commented, “Wow, I am so excited for this. Nelson trust to deliver a major entertainer.” Another wrote, “I am so ready for this project!” Many believe the film will be historic. “This will be the biggest Tamil film ever,” predicted one fan. Another added, “Forget 1000 crore club..This is gonna be once in a lifetime experience.”
With filming yet to begin, expectations are already sky-high.
