The album draws inspiration from a traditional Korean folk song recognised by UNESCO, reflecting themes of reunion and resilience following the group’s military service.
Seoul turns into a fan hub
From March 20 to April 12, Seoul will host a series of themed installations and fan-focused experiences linked to the ARIRANG era. These city-wide activations are designed to engage fans visiting from across the world.
On March 21, BTS will perform their first full-group concert since 2022 at Gwanghwamun Square. The one-hour event, scheduled for 8 pm KST (4.30 pm IST), will be free for the public and livestreamed globally on Netflix.

The group began enlisting in December 2022, starting with Jin, followed by J-Hope and the remaining members through 2023. Their returns were staggered, with Jin completing service in June 2024, J-Hope in October 2024, and the rest by June 2025.
Cultural meaning of ‘ARIRANG’
The title ARIRANG carries historical significance. The term is associated with a traditional Korean folk song believed to be over 600 years old and often linked to themes of longing and endurance. It is also connected to the idea of "my beloved", reflecting the group’s bond with their fans.
With the album and events lined up, BTS's 2026 comeback marks a coordinated return across music, live performances and global fan engagement.
