A young man in Delhi killed his mother, sister, and minor brother before surrendering at a local police station, police said. The accused went to the Laxmi Nagar police station in East Delhi on Monday afternoon, where he confessed to the murders.
According to media reports, the accused has been identified as Yashvir Singh. He reportedly arrived at the police station around 5 PM on Monday. Following his statement, police reached the Mangal Bazar area and recovered three bodies. The deceased have been identified as Kavita (46), Meghna (24), and Mukul (14). Kavita was Yashvir’s mother, while Meghna and Mukul were his siblings.

Possible motive
Media sources indicate that Yashvir told police the family was facing severe financial difficulties, which he cited as the reason for the killings. The exact nature of the financial crisis, or whether other factors contributed, is still unknown.
Yashvir reportedly worked as a personal driver but had been unemployed for the past six months. His father, a truck driver, has not been living with the family during this period. The family, originally from Haryana, was residing in Delhi for work.
National media reports suggest that Yashvir had purchased a life insurance policy worth ₹1.5 crore and had made several suicide attempts over the past two months. Police also said that Yashvir had an argument with his mother on the day of the incident.

How the murders were committed
According to media reports, Yashvir told police that on Monday morning, he collected datura flower seeds, prepared laddus, and fed them to his mother, sister, and brother. After consuming the laddus, the family members reportedly became unconscious, after which Yashvir strangled them to death. Police estimate the murders occurred between 1:30 PM and 2 PM, after which he surrendered at the police station.
Police have registered a case and are investigating the matter further.
