A shocking case has emerged from Punjab after police arrested a 15-year-old boy from Pathankot on charges of spying for Pakistan's intelligence agency, the ISI. According to the Punjab Police, the minor had allegedly been passing sensitive information to handlers across the border for nearly a year. Officials say the information shared was important and posed a serious risk to national security. The arrest has sent shock waves through the security establishment and raised fresh concerns about the methods being used to target young people.

How the minor was allegedly recruited

Police sources said the boy was in direct contact with Pakistani handlers and shared information using different digital platforms. Investigators believe he was gradually drawn into the network and manipulated over time. Officers involved in the probe said minors are increasingly being targeted because they attract less suspicion and can be easily influenced with money or false promises. The police stressed that the teenager may not have fully understood the gravity of his actions when he was first approached.

Security agencies on high alert

Following the arrest, a high alert has been issued across Punjab. Intelligence agencies fear this may not be a single case and that more minors could be involved, either knowingly or unknowingly. All police stations in the state have been asked to remain alert and closely monitor suspicious activities, especially online interactions involving young people. Officials are now focusing on identifying the handlers and tracing the full network behind the operation.

The minor has been booked under the Juvenile Justice Act, and police have clarified that the law will take its course. At the same time, a deeper investigation has been launched to find out how long the spying activity continued and how much information was passed on. Authorities are also examining whether similar attempts were made to trap other teenagers. Officials have warned parents and schools to stay vigilant and report any unusual behaviour, stressing that awareness is the first line of defence against such threats.
