A woman from Manipur was allegedly assaulted near the Saket District Court Complex in New Delhi after she confronted a group of men who reportedly made objectionable remarks at her and her friend. The incident has sparked concerns over the safety of people from Northeast India living in the capital.
Altercation escalates after woman objects to remarks
According to HT, the incident took place when the woman was walking with a friend in a park near the court complex. A group of men allegedly began passing offensive comments, which led the woman to object. The confrontation soon escalated into a physical altercation, during which she was allegedly assaulted.
The victim sustained minor injuries in the attack and was taken to a hospital for medical examination and treatment. Police registered a case soon after the incident and launched an investigation to identify those involved. Authorities later detained four juveniles suspected to be linked to the assault and said further questioning is underway.

The case has once again highlighted concerns over harassment and discrimination faced by people from northeastern states in metropolitan cities. Police officials have assured that strict legal action will be taken against the accused after the investigation is completed.
