Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Gujarat's Surat and the Union Territory of Daman on June 5, where he will inaugurate, dedicate and lay foundation stones for a series of development projects aimed at boosting infrastructure, connectivity and public services.
Per an NDTV report, Modi will first arrive in Surat and visit an industrial facility in the Hazira area, a key manufacturing and engineering hub in Gujarat. The visit is expected to include a review of ongoing industrial operations and infrastructure projects. The Hazira facility has emerged as an important centre for heavy engineering and defence manufacturing in recent years
Development projects worth over Rs 18,000 crore
Following the Hazira visit, the Prime Minister will attend a public programme in Surat where he is expected to inaugurate and lay foundation stones for development projects worth around Rs 18,000 crore. The projects span sectors such as transportation, urban infrastructure, healthcare and industrial development.

The overall package is aimed at strengthening economic growth and infrastructure in South Gujarat, while improving connectivity and public facilities across the region, reported NDTV.
Daman airport inauguration
After completing his engagements in Surat, Modi will travel to Daman, where he will inaugurate a new civilian airport built adjacent to the Indian Coast Guard airstrip. The airport is expected to improve connectivity for the Union Territory and support tourism and business activity in the region.

The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the Marwad Government Hospital located near the airport. Officials told NDTV that the healthcare facility is expected to enhance medical services available to residents of Daman and surrounding areas.
Public address and additional projects
Modi is also scheduled to address a public gathering at Swami Vivekananda Ground in Daman. During the event, he will virtually inaugurate and lay foundation stones for several additional development projects in the Union Territory, per NDTV report.
