Delhi has recorded its cleanest air since October 2025, bringing much-needed relief to residents after months of poor air quality. The Air Quality Index (AQI) improved significantly, even touching the “satisfactory” category for the first time in nearly six months.
Air quality improves after months of pollution
According to the Times of India, the sharp improvement is being linked to favourable weather conditions, including light rain and strong winds, which helped disperse pollutants. The city’s AQI dropped sharply compared to previous days, marking a rare period of cleaner air in the national capital.

All GRAP restrictions lifted across Delhi-NCR
With air quality improving, authorities have lifted all restrictions imposed under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) across Delhi-NCR. These curbs, which have been in place since October last year, are typically enforced during severe pollution levels and include limits on construction, industrial activity, and vehicular movement.

Officials, however, have cautioned that this improvement may be temporary. Air quality in Delhi is heavily influenced by weather conditions, and pollution levels can rise again as conditions change. Despite the current relief, experts continue to stress the need for long-term solutions to tackle the capital’s persistent air pollution problem.
