Police probe underway into the incident
Authorities have launched an investigation into the case to determine the exact circumstances that led to the firing. It is not yet clear whether the act was purely accidental or involved negligence while handling the firearm.
Careless handling of firearms has repeatedly led to tragic and preventable deaths, often involving people who never intended harm. Many incidents occur when individuals treat guns as toys, handling them without proper training, leaving them unsecured, or assuming they are unloaded. Children and teenagers are especially vulnerable, sometimes discovering weapons at home and accidentally discharging them, leading to fatal consequences for themselves or others. Even adults can make fatal mistakes in moments of overconfidence or negligence, such as mishandling a weapon during casual display or play. These tragedies underline a harsh reality: guns are inherently dangerous tools, not objects for recreation, and even a brief lapse in judgement can result in irreversible loss of life.
A tragic example from India occurred in 2018 in Delhi, when a celebratory atmosphere turned fatal during a wedding function. A young man, reportedly trying to show off and “play” with a firearm during the festivities, fired a shot that accidentally struck a guest. The victim later succumbed to injuries, and the incident sparked outrage over the dangerous practice of celebratory firing, especially common at weddings and public gatherings in parts of the country. Despite strict laws under the Arms Act, 1959, such negligent handling of guns continues to claim lives, highlighting how casual or reckless use of firearms in social settings can have irreversible and devastating consequences.

Such incidents have once again raised concerns over the unsafe handling of weapons and the risks involved, especially when firearms are used casually or without proper caution. Police are expected to examine the video and question those present at the scene as part of the ongoing probe.
