Heading to Mumbai or Pune? You might need to take a detour

The Mumbai-Pune expressway will be closed for 3 hours today and tomorrow. 48 routes will likely see heavier-than-usual traffic.

The Mumbai-Pune Expressway will see temporary traffic halts on specific stretches near Lonavala over the next two days, as the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) carries out shuttering removal and painting work on a bridge between Dongargaon and Kusgaon, as per News18.

Commuters are strongly advised to plan their journeys and factor in significant delays before hitting the road.

Timings of the blockade

Mumbai-bound traffic will reportedly be fully closed from 12 pm to 3 pm on Thursday, April 24, while the Pune-bound traffic is fully suspended from 12 pm to 3 pm on Friday, April 25. The block is reportedly between Dongargaon and Kusgaon near Lonavala for bridge repair work

Detour for commuters

For Mumbai-bound routes, Vehicles will be diverted away from the expressway. The route is Kiwale to Dehu Road, then to Talegaon via National Highway 48. Commuters will rejoin the expressway at the Kusgaon toll plaza.

For Pune-bound routes, diversion begins from the Kusgaon toll plaza. The route is NH-48 to Dehu Road, then to Kiwale, and then to Pune.

What to know if leaving during office hours

Commuters should avoid traveling between 12 pm and 3 pm on both days if possible. Leaving early or planning to depart after 3 pm to skip the block entirely is advisable.

Diverted NH-48 routes will likely see heavier-than-usual traffic.
