The One8 Commune restaurant in Bengaluru was a popular place near the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. But now, the court has closed it because of a money problem between the owners and the people running it.
The company that ran it did not pay rent for about six months. The total unpaid money became more than Rs 2 crore, so the owner went to court. Reports say Trio Hills Hospitality allegedly failed to pay rent for nearly six months, with total dues including maintenance and revenue share crossing Rs 2 crore, which led the property owner to take legal action in court.
Virat Kohli had already stopped using his name for this restaurant because of some rule and safety issues. After that, fewer people started coming, and the business became weak before it finally shut down.
Court orders closure over unpaid rent
The city civil court ordered the immediate closure of the Bengaluru One8 Commune outlet after the property owner filed a petition over unpaid rent, directing that the premises remain shut until all outstanding dues are cleared as per court orders.

Legal and Regulatory Issues
According to NDTV reports, the Bengaluru One8 Commune outlet also faced problems with civic authorities. The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) had issued several notices because the restaurant was not following some rules and regulations properly.
In June last year, a case was filed under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act because the outlet did not have a separate smoking area inside the premises.
Earlier, officials also said the restaurant did not have important permissions like the Fire Department No Objection Certificate. It was also among several MG Road establishments accused of staying open beyond permitted hours.
Rent dues reported over Rs 2 crore
According to NDTV reports, the restaurant did not pay rent and other charges for more than six months. Because of this, the total unpaid amount became more than Rs 2 crore, which created serious financial pressure on the business. This situation also made the legal dispute worse, and the operations of the outlet kept getting weaker over time.
Virat Kohli brand exit`s impact
As per India Today reports, before the shutdown, Virat Kohli had already exited the Bengaluru outlet, removing his brand association due to compliance and operational issues, which significantly reduced customer visits and weakened market performance, further leading to declining popularity among regular patrons.
What lies ahead for outlet
The court has stated that the restaurant will remain closed until all dues are cleared, and there is currently no confirmed timeline for reopening or continuation under the same brand or management structure, depending on future settlement between the parties involved.
