Central paramilitary forces and state police joint forces are continuously conducting anti-Maoist operations in Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand. The cornered Maoists have retaliated in Jharkhand. On Sunday, two CRPF jawans were injured in two separate Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blasts. Intensive search operations have begun in areas near the incident site.
IED blasts occurred at two locations near Saranda forest in Jharkhand's West Singhbhum district. This area in Chotonagra police station is known to be Maoist-dominated. The paramilitary forces were conducting search operations there when the blasts occurred during the search operation.

West Singhbhum Police Superintendent Amit Renu confirmed the blast incident. The Police Superintendent told news agency PTI, 'The two jawans received preliminary treatment at the CRPF camp. For advanced treatment, both jawans were later airlifted to a private hospital in Ranchi.'
A similar IED blast incident occurred in Chhattisgarh's Bastar Division in November. A woman constable of the District Reserve Guard was injured in that blast. Last June, an additional police superintendent of Sukma died in a blast incident near that district.
