On Thursday, the Election Commission of India extended the deadline for the first phase of the SIR exercise in five states and one union territory. Issuing a notification, the commission announced that the enumeration work time is being extended in Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, and Andaman & Nicobar. In West Bengal, the enumeration work is set to conclude by midnight on December 11, according to the previously scheduled timeline. Additionally, the enumeration work is concluding on Thursday in Goa, Lakshadweep, and Rajasthan.
The enumeration phase will continue until December 14 in Tamil Nadu and Gujarat, and until December 18 in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Andaman & Nicobar. In Uttar Pradesh, enumeration will continue until December 26.

When will the draft rolls be published?
As a result of this postponement, the draft list publication dates are also being postponed in these states and union territories. The draft voter lists will be published on December 19 in Tamil Nadu and Gujarat, on December 23 in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Andaman & Nicobar, and on December 31 in Uttar Pradesh.

According to the Election Commission's data as of 3 PM on Thursday, form digitization has been completed in Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Lakshadweep, Madhya Pradesh, Puducherry, and Tamil Nadu. Despite this, questions have been raised about why the enumeration work deadline was extended in Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh.
On the other hand, as of 3 PM on Thursday, 99.96 percent form digitization work has been completed in West Bengal, 99.64 percent in Rajasthan, 99.61 percent in Uttar Pradesh, and 98.92 percent in Kerala.
The target was to complete the enumeration work in West Bengal by December 4. That deadline was extended to December 11. That timeline has not been extended further.
