Chennai Super Kings have been dealt a setback in IPL 2026 after all-rounder Ramakrishna Ghosh was ruled out for the rest of the season with a foot fracture. The injury came during his debut match against the Mumbai Indians, cutting short what had started as a promising outing.

Promising debut ends in injury

Ghosh sustained the injury in the May 2 clash, which was also his first appearance in the IPL. Despite the setback, he showed glimpses of his potential. He picked up a key wicket by dismissing Suryakumar Yadav and also contributed in the field with a sharp catch to remove Will Jacks. However, he appeared uncomfortable during his bowling spell and struggled physically, indicating something was wrong.

Medical assessment later confirmed a fracture in his right foot, ruling him out of the tournament. The franchise has not yet named a replacement.

CSK forced to rethink combinations

Head coach Stephen Fleming expressed disappointment, highlighting that Ghosh had been progressing well in training and was shaping up as a useful all-round option. His ability to contribute in multiple departments had added balance to the squad.

For the Chennai Super Kings, this is another injury concern in an already challenging season. The team will now need to adjust their combinations and look for alternatives to fill the gap left by the young all-rounder.

For Ghosh, the focus shifts to recovery and rehabilitation. While his debut ended on an unfortunate note, the brief performance showed enough promise to suggest he could return stronger in future seasons.
