Celebrity chef Ranveer Brar has questioned the common belief that fat is unhealthy. Speaking on Soha Ali Khan’s podcast with chef Garima Arora on April 24, 2026, he explained how people have misunderstood fat for generations.

He said that fat has long been seen as something negative, often linked only with obesity or unhealthy junk food. However, he believes this idea is too simple and ignores the real science behind nutrition.

Brar emphasized that not all fats are bad and that understanding the right kind of fat is important for both health and cooking.

Exposing the fear of fats

ā€œIt is ingrained subconsciously through generation that fat is bad, that it took us a lot of unlearning to realise that fat is the most important part of your diet and having the right fat is the foundation of good cuisine and the foundation of good health,ā€ the chef elaborated. He explained that fat is not the enemy but an essential nutrient when consumed correctly.

Importance of healthy fats

He explained that fats are actually good for the body. They help keep the heart healthy, manage cholesterol, and give us energy for a long time. Soha Ali Khan also said that healthy fats are important for balancing hormones in our body. Ranveer Brar said the main problem is not fat itself, but the kind of fat we eat and how much we consume.

Not all fats are bad

Talking about traditional foods, Brar said that healthy fats are not just modern options like olive oil. He explained that ghee was wrongly called unhealthy for many years, but when eaten in the right amount, it can be good for health and also make food taste better.

Chef Ranveer Brar’s views encourage people to think again about their fear of fats. He explains that good nutrition is not about removing foods completely, but about balance and knowing what we eat.

By reducing the negative image around fat, he promotes a smarter and more informed way of eating. His message shows that good health depends on understanding ingredients properly instead of avoiding them without knowing the proper reason.
