The Delhi High Court on Tuesday issued a notice to Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra in a revision petition filed by advocate Jai Anant Dehadrai in connection with a legal dispute over the custody of a pet Rottweiler named Henry.

The matter was heard by Justice Manoj Kumar Ohri, who asked Moitra to respond to the petition and scheduled the next hearing for May, ANI reported.

Dehadrai, who appeared in person before the court, has sought dismissal of the civil suit filed over Henry's custody. He has also requested interim relief in the form of a stay on proceedings before the trial court.

ANI reported that, during the hearing, Dehadrai urged the court to list the matter before April 29, when Moitra's petition seeking interim custody of the dog is already scheduled to be heard. He told the court that the suit is barred by law and requested an earlier date. He said, "There is a difficulty, and I request you to list the matter before April 29. At least stay the trial court proceedings."

However, the bench said that the proceedings could not be stayed without hearing the other side.

Mahua Moitra's petition for custody

Mahua Moitra had already approached the Delhi High Court seeking custody of the dog. On February 19, the court issued notice to Dehadrai on her petition and asked him to file his response.

The matter was also heard by Justice Manoj Kumar Ohri, who scheduled the hearing for April 29.

Challenge to Saket court order

Mahua Moitra has challenged a November 10, 2025, order of a Saket court that refused her request for custody of Henry for 10 days every month, as per ANI.

The trial court had declined her plea seeking periodic custody of the dog. In her petition before the High Court, Moitra argued that the order was legally and factually incorrect.

According to her plea, Henry primarily lived with her when she was in Delhi. She stated that the dog stayed with Dehadrai only when she travelled outside the city for official work related to her parliamentary constituency.

Dehadrai, appearing in person in the matter, had earlier argued that Moitra's petition should be dismissed at the outset, stating that it should be rejected "In Limine."

The dispute over the custody of Henry is currently pending before the Delhi High Court, with multiple petitions filed by both parties.
