Hope is the best thing in the world, and only comes when somebody has believed in themselves. Ishan Kishan is one of the prime examples of the fighters who are travelling with fear in themselves. The Bihar boy who changed the luck for Jharkhand with a fiery season also entered as a wild card entry in the World Cup squad from then to the start of IPL. He never looked back. In the World Cup, his bat roars; he completed the campaign as the fourth-highest scorer with 317 runs with an average of 35.22. Now, before the start of IPL, Sunrisers Hyderabad rewarded his excellence by giving him the captaincy of the orange army in the absence of Pat Cummins, who is going to miss the initial stage of IPL due to his fitness management.
Kishan as a captain
Kishan is a proven captain; he led Jharkhand to its first Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in the 2025-26 season, and before that, he led India to the U-19 finals in 2016.

After going off the track, Kishan has given one of the finest comebacks, and Sunrisers Hyderabad coach Daniel Vettori has complemented him a lot.
What has Vettori said?
Complementing Kishan Vettori said as quoted by NDTV sports, “I think he started last year where he was added a senior player to the group and the leadership that he exuded throughout that first season, particularly in the back half when he took over the wicketkeeping, it really brought energy to the group and set up our back half of the year and we were pretty successful in that period.”

Adding to that, he also said, “So when Pat (Cummins) was unfortunately out of the initial stage of the tournament, we had some decisions to make and his (Kishan's) experience with his state team in particular had been so impressive, and then he was in really good form. So, between Abhishek and myself, we feel like we've got a really good leadership group to lead us this year.”
Kishan will lead SRH in the IPL opener against RCB at Chinnaswami on Saturday.
