Indian Super League 2026 is heading towards the end. As the league is binding up all its memories and is ready to say goodbye for this year, two giants of Indian football, Mohun Bagan and East Bengal, are ready to face each other in the derby clash, which is not just special for its historical identity this year; this one match is going to shape the ISL title winner. Both teams are currently standing in second and third place respectively with 22 points, as both teams have now two matches left, the chances for both teams are very much wide open.

Scenarios and chances

East Bengal FC remain firmly in the ISL title race with two matches left. A derby win against Mohun Bagan, followed by another victory in their final fixture, could take them past Bengaluru FC and secure the League Shield. Even a draw in the last game may be enough, depending on goal difference.

For Mohun Bagan Super Giant, the situation is similar. Winning the Kolkata derby would put them in control of the title race before the final matchday. Two wins from their remaining fixtures would likely hand Mohun Bagan the ISL League Shield.

Match day guidelines

Ahead of today’s Kolkata Derby between East Bengal FC and Mohun Bagan Super Giant, the top two teams of Indian football have issued an advisory for the supporters to maintain discipline and follow all stadium guidelines to ensure a safe and smooth matchday experience at Salt Lake Stadium.
