Elon Musk-owned social media platform X (formerly Twitter) faced a global outage on Wednesday, with thousands of users across India, the United States and the United Kingdom reporting disruptions in service.

According to outage tracking website Downdetector, users began reporting issues during the evening hours. In India, over 4,700 users reported problems between 8 PM and 8:30 PM. In the United States, nearly 27,330 users flagged issues as of 11:16 a.m. ET, while 4,359 users in the United Kingdom reported similar disruptions.

Users across regions encountered error messages while trying to access the platform. Many reported seeing the message “Something went wrong. Try again” when refreshing their feeds. On the mobile app, users received alerts such as “Cannot retrieve posts at this time. Please try again later.”

Downdetector, which compiles user-submitted reports, indicated that the actual number of affected users may be higher than recorded.

The services were restored by around 9:20 PM IST. However, there has been no official statement yet from X or its owner, Elon Musk, regarding the cause of the outage.

This is not the first such incident this year. Earlier in February, the platform witnessed a similar disruption, with over 42,000 users globally reporting issues, particularly in the US and the UK.
