A Japanese gamer has set a new world record after playing the Super Mario series continuously for more than 60 hours. The achievement, reported by NDTV, highlights the extreme endurance involved in competitive gaming marathons.
Record-breaking gaming marathon
The gamer, identified as Audrey Mina, completed a marathon lasting 60 hours, 17 minutes and 58 seconds, setting a new record for the longest video game session in the Super Mario series.
She carried out the attempt at her gaming desk in Chiyoda, Japan, playing continuously from May 2 to May 5. The session required sustained focus and stamina, as crossing the 60-hour mark is considered rare even among experienced gamers.
Live-streamed attempt with audience support
Audrey live-streamed the entire attempt on her YouTube channel, where she has a significant following. Viewers stayed engaged throughout the marathon, offering encouragement through comments as she progressed through the challenge.
The live interaction added another layer to the event, with real-time support helping her maintain momentum during the long hours of gameplay.
Rules and breaks during the challenge
As per marathon rules, participants are allowed limited rest periods. Audrey earned five minutes of break time for every hour of gameplay, which could either be used immediately or saved for longer rest intervals.
This structured brake system is designed to ensure some level of recovery while still maintaining the integrity of the endurance challenge.

With this achievement, Audrey Mina surpassed the previous record of 50 hours set in 2011. The new milestone pushes the limits of gaming endurance further, setting a higher benchmark for future attempts.
