West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Monday launched the state-wide Jan Kalyan Shivir programme from Nandigram, announcing the rollout of several welfare and infrastructure initiatives. The camps will be held from June 15 to 17 across nearly 1100 locations in the state.

In his address, the Chief Minister said the camps would help citizens access services for 54 Central and state government schemes on a single platform.

He said the Annapurna Yojana rollout has already begun and that beneficiary verification will continue until a final list is prepared.

"According to this morning's figures, the West Bengal government has been able to transfer Rs. 3000 each to the accounts of 79 lakh sisters, mothers, and women under the Annapurna Yojana," Adhikari said.

He also announced that, from July 1, beneficiaries under the VB-G RAM G programme would receive 125 days of work instead of 100. "We have been allocated Rs. 8500 crore for this," he said.

Welfare schemes, healthcare, and jobs in focus

The Chief Minister said Ayushman Bharat cards would be distributed in the state from July, allowing eligible beneficiaries to receive free treatment of up to Rs. 5 lakh.

The Jan Kalyan Shivir camps will provide services related to Annapurna Yojana, Ayushman Bharat, Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Kisan Credit Card, land mutation, correction of land records, CAA applications, Agricultural Infrastructure Fund benefits, and student credit cards.

CM Adhikari also outlined the government's employment policy. He said recruitment would be based on transparency and merit.

He stated that candidates would be allowed to take home carbon copies of OMR sheets. The weightage of interview marks would be reduced, while academic performance would also be considered. Reservation for SC, ST, OBC, Divyang and EWS categories would be implemented as per existing rules.

"We want a transparent list to be prepared so that people receive the benefits of Central and state schemes properly. Through this, our society will progress," he said.

CM Adhikari also announced progress on infrastructure projects, including rural roads under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana. He said the Union government had approved Rs. 2400 crore for road projects and had already released Rs. 1000 crore.

On connectivity in East Midnapore, he said efforts were underway to bring rail services to Nandigram. He also reiterated plans for the proposed Haldia-Nandigram bridge, saying it would be designed to ensure uninterrupted movement of ships through the waterway.
